1947- August 15

I would like to travel back to the day India was declared an independent nation. Every time I read Jawaharlal Nehru’s “Tryst with Destiny” speech which he delivered on the midnight of Aug 14, 1947 as India woke into liberty, I am filled with awe. Moving the ordinary man to believe he has a part in the glorious dream. I can imagine how they rejoiced. How powerful they felt. I want to feel that pulse. The blood throbbing exhilaration on an amazing victory over the empire where the sun never set. Dancing away, not a shred of doubt that anything was ever going to go wrong.

1947- August 15

To feel the first breaths of a newly born nation
Fearless to seize a glorious future!
A star rises in the East.
All hearts beating as one,
Promising to never betray this dream.

  2. I like this! It would be exciting to be a part of the independence celebration and to fee the electricity that cannot come across in history books.

    1. Yes,it would be priceless. We take so much for granted. I have met people who lived under the oppressive regime and realized how much they cherish freedom.

  7. Use a time machine to travel to a special event or place. Great idea. Most of us are trying to be too clever to just embark in a great journey. (RogRites)
